Something about a dream |
|
What is your feeling when reading newspapers and magazines? I feel overwhelmed. Media is congested with all kinds of ¡¥noisy' news everyday. But there is little information that relates to us. As an experimental magazine for journalism students to practice their technique, Varsity is not powerful enough to compete with famous newspapers and magazines. We are not able to report breaking news and have no way to get in touch with the big newsmakers. But Varsity provides us a precious chance to focus on the people around us and on our community. In this magazine, we pay attention to tiny details all around us and write about them. Slight matters and insignificant people also have important and interesting stories. But being a storyteller is not enough. We are also trying to dig problems from some topics and hope that people will pay attention to them, find the solution and thus improve our community. This is my wish, and maybe only Varsity can realize it. Varsity is not a commercial magazine. This should be celebrated. Veeva Yang |
