Professor Hsuan-ting Chen Awarded the Faculty of Social Science Exemplary Teaching Award 2025

11 April, 2026

During the Appreciation Achievement Award Celebration held on April 11, 2026, Prof. Chen Hsuan-ting was awarded the Faculty of Social Science Exemplary Teaching Award 2025.

Prof. Chen joined CUHK in 2013 and is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Journalism and Communication. She has demonstrated her ability to create engaging, interactive, and intellectually stimulating learning environments through her classroom teaching. Her mentorship is equally exemplary. She has supervised numerous Ph.D., M.Phil., and undergraduate students, guiding them through their academic journeys and research projects. Her graduate students consistently achieve outstanding results, including publishing in prestigious journals, winning top paper awards at international conferences, and securing academic and professional positions globally.

At the ceremony, Prof. Chen expressed her gratitude to her students and colleagues for their support. She shared the teaching philosophy she values most: recognizing that there is no single way to learn—and no single way to succeed. She believes it is important to pay attention to individual differences in the learning process and to provide the appropriate support to help students succeed and overcome challenges. By listening to students’ needs—not only in terms of knowledge, but also their interests, experiences, and even personal challenges—teachers can extend the learning environment beyond the classroom.

Prof. Chen noted that her students’ positive feedback and encouragement continue to motivate her to become a better teacher. In her view, teaching is not only about knowledge; it is about people, growth, and the relationships teachers and students build along the way.

Congratulations to Prof. Chen on this well-deserved honor!
