2022 London Field Study for Global Communication undergraduates

本科課程活動
日期 2022年4月28日 - 5月3日

As a part of the curriculum for the Global Communication undergraduate programme, a two-day field study to London was jointly organized by the School and the School of Media, Arts and Humanities of the University of Sussex on 28 April and 3 May, 2022. Students visited the Museum of Brands, Tate Britain and the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) for a series of guided tours and workshops to understand media’s role in shaping global culture.

Chiefly organized by Dr. Sally Chen from the University of Sussex, the field study hoped to prompt students to reflect on cultural institutions’ ways of using media to convey messages. On the first day of the field study, students participated in a workshop on “Gender in Advertising” at the Museum of Brands, followed by a guided tour of a Tate exhibition inspired by Stuart Hall on his ideas of cultural identity and diaspora. During the V&A visit, students attended a workshop about the museum’s special project “Pandemic Objects” and a visit to V&A Digital Wonderlands resident artist Sian Fan’s studio.
