Minor Programme in Journalism and Communication

Minor Programme Requirement

Students are required to complete a minimum of 18 units of courses, with at least 6 units at 3000 or above, as follows:

Explanatory Notes:

  1. Requirement for registration in Minors: Students should have obtained a pass or above in COMM1110 before registration in Minor.
  2. Registration as a Minor in Journalism and Communication in no way guarantees enrolment in courses with quotas due to limited facilities and manpower.
  3. No more than 9 units of courses taken to fulfill the requirements of the students’ Major Programme(s) and other Minor Programme(s) respectively can be used to fulfill the requirement of this Minor Programme.

Minor Programme in Global Communication

Minor Programme Requirement (Applicable to students admitted in 2025-26 and thereafter)

Students are required to complete a minimum of 18 units of courses, with at least 6 units at 3000 or above level, as follows:

COMM1180, 1500, 2120		9
2. Elective Courses:
At least 9 units of courses from (a) and (b) (courses that appear in both (a) and (b) can only be counted towards fulfillment of either (a) or (b)):

  • (a) At least 3 units of the following courses:
    COMM2180, 2540, 2590, 3550, 3700, 4250
  • (b) At least 6 units of COMM courses

  4. Units taken to fulfill the requirement of the Journalism and Communication Programme (including Major Programmes, Double Major Programmes, Double Degree Options and Minor Programme) and Global Studies Programme (including Major Programme and Minor Programme) cannot be used to fulfill the requirement of this Minor Programme.
