Disobedience and recalcitrance

“I’ve sensed the excessively tragic ambiance of Occupying Central is inconsistent with public sentiments. Recalcitrance– the strategic and tenacious struggles– might be the most proper plan for pro-democracy movements in Hong Kong.” Since 2006, Chu Hoi-dick has got involved in multiple local environmental movements, including protecting Star Ferry and founding supporting groups to help the residents of Choi Yuen Village, resist the forced demolition and rebuild their homes. In 2011, he and his colleagues established the Land Justice League. He is holding a concurrent post as an editor in Hong Kong in-media. Chu Hoi-dick is coming to share his experiences with social movements, his personal practice of the recalcitrance, and his outlook for the future.
