The School of Journalism and Communication of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (“the School”) is setting up an archive to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the School in 2025.
To collect fond memories and achievement of the School in the past six decades, the School is now calling for donation of artefacts, or loan of artefacts for digitization.
The format of artefact can be photos, videos, documents, publications and objects that witness the evolution and growth of the School in more than half a century.
- Development of the School
- Photos of the School’s physical site (Humanities Building, Cheng Ming Building (70-90’s), Pi Ch’iu Building (70’s), etc.)
- Photos of facilities in the School at different times, such as:
- Classrooms/ lecture halls
- Control rooms/ recording and shooting studios/ editing rooms
- Computer laboratories/ photography darkroom
- Photos of students working for their assignments in Humanities Building/ Cheng Ming Building, such as:
- Editing process of “Shatin News”, “New Shatin”, “Journalist”
- Video production in studios, control rooms and computer laboratories
- Publications produced for courses:
- Hardcopies of “Journalist”, “Shatin News”, “New Shatin”, 《實習新聞》,《雜誌世界》, “Asian Messenger”
- Publications by Pinpoint (90’s), Publications produced by CM Lab and Pinpoint (2010-) courses
- Photos and/or videos of exhibitions showcasing students’ projects
- People in the School
- Photos and/or videos of Department/School Directors and staff
- School Life

- Reporting processes for practicum publications
- Behind-the-scenes production of media content
- Orientations Camps group photos
- Pictures of Photo Days
- Family shots of the School’s student societies
(Documents/ Objects)
- T-Shirts of Orientation Camps, garments produced by student societies or special students’ projects
- Handbooks and pamphlets
- Student societies souvenirs
- Trophies and certificates from competitions
- Anything about students’ university days at the School
Items selected will be archived for preservation and research and might be displayed in a series of 60th Anniversary exhibitions in virtual and physical form.
Acquisition Period: Now until 20th December 2024.
