Dr. Carol Chow Won an Award in Singapore International Photography Festival 2016

24 August, 2016

Our teachers are talented who keep deliver outstanding academic and professional works. Recently, the photography curatorial exhibition proposal of our Lecturer, Dr. Carol Chow, was selected as the winning proposal for the Singapore International Photography Festival 2016.

Her exhibition proposal is entitled “A Room with a View”. The exhibition takes as its point of departure Ackbar Abbas’s text Hong Kong: Culture and the politics of disappearance (1997), in which he describes how buildings and spaces in Hong Kong have come to signify what no longer exists. Highlighting shifts of symbolism and power, the works show the impact of politics and urban regeneration on the physical and psychological landscape of the city. The exhibition is now held at the Earl Lu Gallery in LASALLE College of The Arts, Singapore. The exhibition period is from 20 August 2016 to 16 October 2016.
