Extending the space between 0 and 1: The practice and imagination of Hong Kong 01

As traditional mass media are folding and adapting to the digitized environment, new media has risen in prominence. The Hong Kong 01 exemplifies a new news media combining the use of the Internet, the print and alternative forms of display. Invested with huge manpower and resources, the Hong Kong 01 has been operating for about three months. We are honored to have the Executive Chief Editor of Hong Kong 01 Ernest Chi to share with us his experience in setting up the Hong Kong 01 and insights on media development.

Ernest Chi is a veteran and achieved journalist. He was the Deputy Executive Chief Editor of Ming Pao before establishing the Hong Kong 01. He led an investigative team in Ming Pao and produced a series of reports with strong social impact, including vote rigging in the District Council election, the illegal construction works in the properties of Henry Tang Ying-yen and Leung Chun-ying and the conflict of interest of land acquisition by senior government officer of the Land Department. The news reports won numerous awards in the Hong Kong News Awards organized by The Newspaper Society of Hong Kong.
