“Privileges in Daily Life: Reflections on Violence in News Coverage”

Privileges permeate the daily news in China. They are embedded in the clashes between unlicensed vendors (Xiaofan) and urban controllers (Chengguan), the traffic accidents committed by military vehicles that end up legally unchallenged, hit-and-runs by private cars, bribery, favoritism, the bullying of doctors, and special rights for ethnic minorities.

Mr. Pang Pang, an anchor from the Southern TV will examine the scope, forms and causes of such privileges.
