Public Lecture by Google News Lab: The Future of News in a Mobile World

A public lecture entitled “The Future of News in a Mobile World” was held on 13 November 2015 (Friday). Mr. Nicholas Whitaker, Media Outreach Manager of Google News Lab was the speaker. Watching videos is one of the most popular uses of a smartphone across the world. That has opened up new opportunities and challenges for newsrooms and broadcasters around the world. Nicholas Whitaker reviewed how news organizations have succeeded at making serious news fit on small screens. He also discussed how to start preparing for and thinking about 360-degree videos and virtual reality. His talk was well attended with teachers and students from various disciplines.
