Postgraduate Study Tour to South Korea 2023

Prof. Sora Kim and Prof. Shih-Chia Wu led a group of 19 taught postgraduate students to Seoul for a study tour from 24 April to 29 April 2023. This is the seventh year for the School to organise a study tour to South Korea thanks to students’ overwhelming response. We hope to provide more opportunities and enable more interested students to visit Korean media, cultural, and entertainment companies.

This year, students were invited to visit Sogang University. They joined a seminar on Korean Public Relations and Media Industries given by Prof. Soo-Yeon Kim from School of Communications. They also visited JTBC, SBS, Arirang TV, and Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange during the following days and had the chance to talk to media practitioners to learn behind the scenes productions. Students were amazed to see how technology leads the industry development when visiting Samsung Innovation Museum.

After the visits, Prof. Kim took students to famous historical and cultural sites as well as some hidden gems to experience Korean culture first-hand. When the tour came to the end, students wish there could be another six days.
