The School held a reception at 2019 Annual Conference of International Communication Association (ICA) on May 27, 2019 at Washington DC. The reception attracted over 180 scholars from universities in US, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Singapore, Japan, Korea, mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The Director of the School, Prof. Francis Lee, chaired the reception and welcomed CUHK alumni, as well as old and new friends of the School. In 2019 ICA, Prof. Jack Qiu, the Director of the C-Centre, was elected as ICA Fellow, which is a prestigious title to recognize his academic achievement and his contribution to the international research community. He also received C. Edwin Baker Award for the advancement of scholarship on media, markets and democracy by the ICA Philosophy, Theory and Critique Division and the Communication Law and Policy Division. Prof. Ven-hwei Lo, the Chief-Editor of Communication & Society, received the lifetime achievement award from Chinese Communication Association (CCA) for his contribution to promoting the development and exchange of communication research in Greater China. In the School’s reception, participants celebrated the achievements of Prof. Jack Qiu and Prof. Ven-hwei Lo.
