Varsity Reporting Trip to Japan 2024

From July 10 to 15, 2024, 11 undergraduate students from Varsity visited Fukuoka, Japan, for a cross-cultural journalism experience. At Kyushu University, they conducted interviews on campus life and joined a class led by Prof. Edward Vickers, discussing Japan’s image in Asia.

In Hiroshima, they visited the Peace Memorial Park and Museum, where they interviewed atomic bomb survivor Teruko Yahata and a city official dedicated to promoting global peace. The trip concluded in Hirado, where they covered events marking Zheng Chenggong’s 400th birthday.
