SIX DEGREES COULD CHANGE THE WORLD

Imagine a planet without the Amazon, an ice-free Arctic Ocean and category six super hurricanes. While this may seem far-fetched, the reality is that our planet is a mere six degrees Celsius from cataclysmic changes unlike any we have experienced during human life on Earth.

National Geographic Channel’s Six Degree Could Change the World was filmed on 5 continents, and tracks the world’s top climate researchers and follows ranchers, photographers and everyday people to uncover the warning signs and climate trends.

Organized by “the 4th Corridor” of the School of Journalism and Communication, the Hong Kong Observatory supports the “Deer in the Box” exhibition by providing impressive overviews of the changing trends in Hong Kong climate. Amidst worries and fears, Mr. Lam Chiu Ying, the Director of Hong Kong Observatory responds with hopes and humour. His thoughts are featured next to the courtyard, where our deer now inhabit.

It is time to act. Be it global, be it local, let us start making the difference now.

The “Deer in the Box” exhibition is available from September, 2008 to July, 2009. Staffs and Students are welcome.
