Training Trip to Prague & Krakow 2024

Postgraduate Activities
Date DEC 6 - DEC 19 2024

Twenty students from the undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes at the School of Journalism and Communication visited Prague and Krakow from December 6 to 19, 2024. During this trip, students engaged with journalists in the media and communication industries, as well as scholars and experts, through a series of workshops, lectures, and local visits.

The itinerary included visits to Czech Radio, the Cold War Museum, Terezin Concentration Camp, the Centre of St. John Paul II, and the Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps. Additionally, teachers and students participated in interactions with students from various parts of Europe, such as attending a workshop with Polish university students and meeting journalists who have covered the Ukraine conflict. They also had the opportunity to hear from Father Tomasz at the Centre of St. John Paul II, who delivered a talk on the legacy of Pope John Paul II.

At the end of this journey, students gained a deeper understanding of the history of World War II and the Holocaust, as well as the dynamics of Europe during the Cold War and beyond, and contemporary European society and its challenges.
