The School of Journalism and Communication at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is shocked and angered by the brutal attack on former Chief Editor of Ming Pao Daily News, Kevin Lau Chun-to. We strongly condemn this cold-blooded criminal attack, and request that the police urgently investigate the truth behind the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible. We urge the government to safeguard press freedom in Hong Kong, and ensure journalists can carry out their work without fear.

Mr. Lau has served as a Part-time Lecturer at the School for more than a decade. During this time, he has taught thousands of students and contributed greatly to journalism education in Hong Kong. The School wishes Mr. Lau a speedy recovery and extends its sincere sympathy to his family.
