Public Engagement: Communicating Health in Chinese Societies

Introduction
Since its initiation in 2008, the widely received CUHK Communication Visiting Scholar Program has been organized annually by the School of Journalism and Communication at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Program aims to promote academic exchange and links among Chinese-speaking scholars in cultural China, improve the quality of research of the Chinese research community, and represent the School as the centripetal center of Chinese communication research.

Program Theme 2013
This year, the newly inaugurated Centre for Chinese Media and Comparative Communication Research (the C-Centre) of the School of Journalism and Communication is enthusiastic to announce the research theme for the upcoming Sixth Chinese University Communication Visiting Scholar Program in 2013 as “Public Engagement: Communicating Health in Chinese Societies”. Instigated by the theme, the C-Center will organize talks, sharing sessions and a two-day workshop related to studies of health communication for worldwide Chinese scholars who are interested in the topic. The visiting scholars are expected to stay in Hong Kong for up to one month from 22 January 2013 to carry out intensive academic exchange and research. The School will provide a daily living allowance of HK$300 and accommodation for each visiting scholar.

Venue: Room312, Humanities Building, New Asia College, CUHK
Content: The visiting scholars will present papers on the theme of “Public Engagement: Communicating Health in Chinese Societies”. CUHK faculty members and research students are encouraged to participate in the stimulating discussion after the presentations.
